Printed skirts

I love using skirts as an accent for an outfits. In fact, I don't think I own very many plain skirts. I found this skirt on a little while ago. :)

Pretty simple, but the skirt's print really makes the outfit pop!

So this month, Birchbox teamed up with Glamour magazine to deliver a special kind of birchbox! The Five Senses!!

1. Alterna Bamboo UV + Color Protection Fade-Proof Fluide: This finishing gloss prevents UV rays from fading color while organic bamboo extracts keep hair strong and soft.

2. Birchbox Exclusive earbuds!

3. Oscar de la Renta / live in love: Smells amazing!

4. Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint: This lightweight award-winner is a daily shortcut to dewy skin that feels natural and looks gorgeous.

5. Stila lip glaze: This sparkly gloss from the limited edition It's Go Time Lip Glaze Trio combines sheer color with mega-watt shine.

6. Larabar/ uber: The latest addition to our snack drawer, these healthy and satisfying bars are packed with dried nuts and fruits.

Okay, so I have tried the perfume and the Larabar so far. Both great! The Larabar tastes pretty good and is super healthy for those of you who want to snack but don't want to feel bad about it. I obviously plan on trying everything. I actually have a smaller size of the Jouer tint. I think I've used it before and liked it. I can't wait to try the hair fluide though. Maybe tomorrow...
I thought that the earbuds were an adorable extra touch! I'm excited to have a cute pair of them!

Vibrant Coral Brompton mini-hobo

This is my newest eye candy!!! I saw this online at J Crew and loved it. It was on sale too! Bonus! Unfortunately, they are all sold out now.

I really like the color for summer. It's called Vibrant Coral. Colors like this are really in this year. It's a great pop of color for any outfit I decide to wear. My picture doesn't really do it justice so I included the catalog pic.

Ohhh and...

Some of my J Crew goodies will be arriving tomorrow!!! I'm so excited! So hopefully I'll have some stuff to share over the weekend! And also, watch for my next big project, refurbishing my mom's dresser she had as a teenager. That will also hopefully be taking place either this weekend or next! Stay tuned!!

At home Starbucks... :)

If you know me, you know that I love Starbucks just as much as the next person does. What I do not love about Starbucks is how my pocketbook seems to get REALLY low after visiting there several times a week. Now, I'm not really a straight coffee drinker. I prefer a little extra stuff in there to sweeten it up. So that said, I love iced coffee with the frills during the summer! I'm always buying Starbucks grounds to not only make it at home, but to make it super easy to grab a glass and go. Here's my process!

Buy Starbucks coffee grounds (around $7-8 at your local grocery store)... or your favorite brand of coffee (I cannot believe there is a better brand, but if you think so then fine).... :)

Put the whole (yes, I said whole) bag in a big pitcher. For a little less bold flavor or to make the coffee grounds go further, spread the whole bag between one pitcher and a half of another pitcher. Fill the pitcher all the way to the top with cold water. Let it sit for a couple hours. You can also let it sit wayyyyy longer for a more bold flavor.

Next, (and I'm sorry that I don't have a picture of this) lay a flour sack kitchen towel over desired container opening. Pour coffee and grounds through a kitchen strainer into the flour sack (or cheesecloth) towel slowly, allowing the coffee to strain and seep through into your desired container. (You REALLY are going to want to use both the strainer and flour sack towel to keep all the grounds out of your end result. A strainer does not do the job by itself. And the flour sack doesn't do the job by itself either. It will take four hours to strain all the coffee if you do it that way. You have been warned.)... :)

I like to use a container like the one below and allow it to sit in my refrigerator for easy dispensing. (Refrigerating is also key for a super refreshing iced coffee. I promise, it's just not the same if you add warm or hot coffee.)

Fill a cup with ice, and then fill the cup with about 2/3rds with coffee.

Here comes the bad part... :) I add half and half to fill the cup almost to the top. You can of course use skim milk, 1%, 2%, or whole or whatever. Half and half works for me because when the ice in your cup begins to melt, the half and half is not as easily watered down. (I've also heard that in order to prevent a watered down drink, you can make coffee ice cubes... I say, do whatever your taste buds desire)

Add suger to taste. I use almost a whole tablespoon.... :S

Then just for taste, I add a tiny bit of Starbucks Caramel Sauce. (For more frills, or when I'm feeling extra crazy, I add whip cream and drizzle caramel sauce on it.)

And poof! The most delicious drink ever!!! I put it in my Starbucks reusable to-go cup when I'm on my way out.

And there ya go! An at home drink that will in the end, be wayyyyyy cheaper than stopping and getting a cup everyday. Try it!

Comfy Girly Grey

I wanted to share my comfy outfit from work todaybecause it is yet another great deal from Target! I've been really into dresses this summer because they are super easy and keep me cool in this crazy HOT weather!
Okay so the dress is from Target. Great deal for like $20 I think... I love grey!! And white! So naturally, I loved this dress when I saw it.
The earrings and necklace are made by Elisabeth Ashlie on
The shoes are Candies from Kohls- My favorite summer sandals! And they've held up the past few weeks that I've had them, so that's a plus!

Summer dressy for less

So I wanted to share a quick cute dressy outfit for summer. I have recently been inspired by my paleness. :) I have always gone back and forth with being pale in the past. Years ago I would tan in the tanning bed with great results. The truth is, tanning beds are horrible for you. And after a period of time, that kind of tanning makes your skin look old. I've done my fair share of spray tanning which is great for weddings, etc. But I've decided to embrace my fair skin instead by shopping for clothing and colors that actually compliment it. And recently, I chose to go back to blonde hair after a couple years of keeping it a little more of a medium brown.  I've got a wardrobe full of black articles of clothing. And while black can be good for slimming, and it is a neutral color, it is also... well, black.
So I'm trying to lighten up my wardrobe. Yes, I'm also aware that this dress has a little black in it. But that's the thing, a little bit of black isn't really a problem, especially when it's paired with such a light color.

So I love a chance to be thrifty and yet make a cute outfit that will work for many occasions.
I found this dress at Target for only $25!

I paired it with a pair of flats not shown in the top photo. But I show some that you could use above. A great pair of nude flats by Dana Buchman. I found them at Kohls last winter for probably $20-30. Otherwise, you can always wear black flats, heels, etc. You could also wear some dressy sandals with this dress.

I also am wearing one of the necklaces and a pair of earrings that I make. -Only the cost of materials.

My polish is "a crewed interest" by Essie. - $8

Meet Me At Sunset {Essie}

Today's "pretty" is my current summer favorite nail polish! Named, Meet Me at Sunset, this adorable orangey red is the perfect color to compliment your summer wardrobe!

So I've been wearing this polish off and on for the past few weeks. I love it! And of course, the brand is Essie so it does stay on well for several days. I've worn it with black based outfits as well as summer colorful outfits. I scored mine from a friend at work who had them to sell, but you can probably get it at Target or Walgreens or online!

My typical Essie color of choice is the pale pink, Ballet Slippers, so this is a great way for me to mix it up with a bright and cheerful color. I liked it so much, that I've kept my toes the same color for these past weeks!

June Birchbox

So this is a little late but here's my new birchbox for the month! For those of you who don't know what birchbox is check out It's a $10/month subscription. Every month, you get a birchbox full of samples of beauty products, hair products, etc. You can use the samples and decide whether or not you like them. If you do, you can buy the products on for sometimes a discounted price. I love this subscription, because I hate buying full size products before I know whether or not I like them. And who has the money to just throw away on beauty products? Not me! Every month, I have found several products that I love to use! And some of the products actually last for a little while!

So starting off, BAND-AIDs designed by Cynthia Rowley. These are adorable BAND-AIDS. I almost want to just use them without actually needing them!

Dr. Jart Waterfuse BB Cream- All in one moisturizer, serum, sunscreen, and skin-perfecting tint as the (extremely stylish) Swiss Army Knife of your beauty lineup.

Joya Ames Soerurs Parfum - A Scent of Soulmates - Orange blossoms, smoky incense, and sweet musk.

Kelly Van Gogh- Color Protecting Caviar Shampoo and Conditioner- Keep your color looking day one fresh with this dynamic duo!

Melvita Rosa Floral Water- This organic mist works as a light toner and mid=day skin refresher.

theBalm cosmetics Stainiac in Beauty Queen- Two-in-one lip and cheek stain. The sheer gel formula delivers a subtle, long-wearing flush.

So I've already tried the floral water, BAND-AIDS, and the lip and cheek stain. Like them all! I may not actually purchase the floral water, but it's still a great sample to have! I plan on trying the Shampoo and Conditioner tonight!

BAND-AID or fashion? How about both?

these will also be highlighted on my next blog post for my recent birchbox. but...
are these not the cutest BAND-AIDs you've ever seen? you can get them from for $11 for two packages (i luckily got a whole box as a sample!). you might be able to get them other places online, but i honestly haven't looked.

Little Bit of Vera

So I've had these for a little while already, but I love them!
Can you say, "Vera Wang Love?!"
They go with a lot of different outfits. I've worn them with black leggings and a cute champagne colored top. I've also worn them with a cute black skirt and top. Many more outfits would work. I will say, I had to wear these in for a couple days before they were completely comfortable. But it was worth it! I just love the texture and the gems on top. So far, I think they are pretty durable. I've worn them at least five times, and each time, I've had them on all day. So far, no damage. And that's saying something, because I go through shoes pretty quickly.
