Sausage and Cream Cheese Croissant

This is probably one of my favorite recipes. Though, I usually make it as a casserole type dish. I was asked to bring a breakfast type food for a church reception. So I wanted to make this as a finger food instead of needing a fork and plate. I thought that using the mini muffin pan for the crescent rolls would be a great substitute! I made another batch for our family this evening. :)

Normal Simple Recipe:
1 lb of sausage (my favorite brand is Country Boy)
1 pk of cream cheese
2 tubes of crescent rolls (Great Value brand has no trans fat) ;)

Preheat oven to 375.
Cook sausage in skillet. Pat down with paper towels. Toss in bowl along with cream cheese. Mix up well. Lay out one tube of crescent roll dough in bottom of 9x13 baking dish. Put dish in oven for a few minutes to let bottom layer begin to cook. After a few minutes, take out dish and spoon sausage and cream cheese mixture onto crescent dough evenly. Add the next tube of crescent roll dough over mixture. Bake according to crescent roll instructions (usually about 11-13 minutes).

On lazy days, I make the sausage and cream cheese mixture, then bake biscuits and we serve the mixture in between biscuits.

For the finger food alternative, roll out two crescent roll tubes. Cut into squares. Fit dough into mini muffin pan. Bake according to pkg instructions. Fill with mixture. :)
